These days lots of websites are being jazzed up with interactive Flash-based games. I’ve been hired to do a concept sketch for a simple fishing game idea. Hopefully a large, well-known company will use the game on their sales team website (at least, I think it’s for the sales team). It’s a very simple game–pick a fishing hole, watch the fisherman cast his lure, and then something happens (good or bad) depending on how that individual has been doing with their sales numbers. Or something to that effect. A fun project to work on!

Walt Stanchfield started as a Disney clean-up artist in the 60’s, and by the 1990’s he had become one of Disney’s premiere drawing instructors. Now, thanks to the folks at Animation Meat you can download 51 different notes and handouts from Stanchfield’s classes. Though they are geared more for the advanced artist than the beginner, there’s enough valuable information to benefit anyone who has a serious interest in drawing the human form. Enjoy! (If you print them out, have a lot of paper on hand. I think the entire set of notes takes up about 200 pages).

I’m working with a client on designing a table-top dispenser for Christian tracts. It’s a neat optical illusion based on this design (click to watch a short video of the illusion in action). It’s really amazing. The head appears to turn and follow you as you walk past it. You can read more about it here.

These photos are of my first rough mock-up. It’s supposed to be a doberman but I’ve got some tweaking to do. Also, I suggested making the tracts in the shape of big dog bones, we’ll see if the client goes for it.

Here’s a quick practice doodle that I used to experiment with painting in Photoshop. Not my best work (the hips and legs are kinda wonky), but that’s life. Sometimes you just have “one of those days”. It was still lots of fun!

Jennie and I had a terrific honeymoon in Colorado Springs. I managed to keep the location a secret from just about everyone, including Jennie. Jennie had previously lived there for two years, and I had never seen the mountains, so it was an exciting trip for both of us. Among other things we saw the Garden of the Gods, Cave of the Winds, and took a train ride to the top of Pike’s Peak (above the clouds!) We also visited some of Jennie’s old friends and toured the headquarters of Focus on the Family.

Jennie and I are finally back from our wedding/honeymoon. What a fantastic whirlwind experience! It was truly amazing. We’re still waiting for the dust to settle, but we want to say a huge “thank you” to everyone who helped make our wedding so incredible! We are truly blessed to have such wonderful family and friends.
