Sketchbook Update: Draw!
Sketchbook Update: Koochy Koo Redux
Last week I posted a sketch based on a prompt from the Pose Drawing Sparkbook that reads, “Trying to stop a baby from crying.” I thought a tough, scary biker trying to calm a baby might be funny. Today’s sketch is another take on that concept, with what I think is a stronger pose.

Sketch Cards
I do most of my drawing on the computer but I also keep a pile of blank greeting cards handy for when I need a change of pace. It’s fun to doodle on the cards, and if I like how they turn out I will often send one to a friend, a client, or a potential future client.
Here’s a couple of cards I did recently:
This one was for a friend’s birthday, loosely based on a photo from Humans of New York (which is a great site for finding people to sketch).
This one was for another friend who recently suffered a stroke that left him with some permanent handicaps. My thought was, it must be frustrating when our bodies don’t work the way we want them to. Fortunately he is doing well and in good spirits.
Sketchbook Update: Bluegrass Banjo Pig
Illustrator Stacy Curtis, the co-creator of Dueling Banjo Pigs, is recovering from a stroke. Artists from all over the internet have been posting banjo pig sketches to his Facebook page along with well wishes. This was my contribution. Get well soon Stacy!
