S’mores Print-On-Demand

I’ve been dipping my toe into the “print on demand” space. I’ve uploaded a few designs and have seen some success with some cartoon facemasks over on Redbubble. So, I thought I’d see what else I could come up with. Here’s a summer campfire illustration I doodled up and converted into a couple of different designs. You can order it on shirts, mugs, stickers, and much more over on my Redbubble storefront.

Live Draw Tonight! (May 11)

Cartoonist Paul Cox is the creator of RefToons. He takes inspiring quotes from famous Christians in church history and illustrates them in charming ways. Tonight I’ll be a guest on a livedraw with Paul at 8pm CST. Just search Facebook, YouTube, or Instagram for “@reftoons”. Tune in and hit us up with questions!

Face Mask Designs

Pandemics and other medical emergencies can be difficult for children. Seeing everyone wear face masks when they go out in public might be confusing or even a little scary. Children want to see faces. It helps them feel connected and comforted.

I’ve illustrated a series of silly cartoon masks to help take a bit of the edge off during the quarantine. If you have children, or if you just want to show off your sense of humor, give one of these masks a try. They are available for order on Teepublic and Redbubble. The Teepublic masks cost a bit more but include an extra layer of cloth.

Also, these masks are one-size-fits-most so I can’t guarantee they would work on small children. But kids can still laugh when they see the grown-ups wearing them.

Hasbro Earth Day Meme

Hasbro hired me to illustrate one more social media image, this time for earth day. This morning it went live on the Hasbro Instagram and Facebook feeds. Any day I get to draw Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head is a fun day!

FPO Comp Art for San Francisco Bay Coffee

Although most of the work I do is cartoony, I sometimes get hired to work up concept presentation sketches for advertising agencies and marketing firms. Over the years I’ve helped flesh out ideas for presentations to Coca-Cola, Best Buy, Target, Walmart, Geico, and Mazda, just to name a few.

Several months ago Minneapolis agency Create Play Connect hired me to help visualize some ideas for an event marketing campaign they wanted to present to San Francisco Bay Gourmet Coffee.

This first idea featured a tie-in with the Iron Man World Championship. People could sit on a stationary bike that would grind coffee beans as they pedaled. Behind them was a screen allowing them to take pictures that made it look like they were competing in the Iron Man.

Another idea was to set up a welcoming outdoor eating area in front of a San Francisco back drop. A real trolley would be on site and people could have their picture taken in front of the backdrop.

Working on FPO comp art sketches is a nice change of pace for me. If that’s something I can help you with, you can download a PDF portfolio of my FPO comp art work here.

Coronavirus Memes for Hasbro

I was hired by Hasbro to illustrate some coronavirus quarantine memes featuring Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head. They wrote the gags and asked me to create the illustrations in a flat, minimal-line art style. So far Hasbro has shared the memes on Instagram and Facebook.

Stay healthy everyone! We’ll get through this thing yet.
