KeWe is a new social media platform that recently launched. The people behind KeWe hired me to create some illustrations for use in a marketing presentation to promote their app.

According to their latest press release, Kewe “combines all of the popular features of top apps like Facebook, Instagram and What’s App into one, while adding new elements that expand the KeWe community beyond the mobile screen.” You can learn more about KeWe on their website: http://www.kewe.co.

Art for Mobile Messaging Stickers

Social Media Stickers

(Click image to enlarge.)

Recently I was hired by Tourean Design to illustrate a series of mobile messaging stickers for use in an upcoming project. There are four sets of 16 stickers each:

  • A series of animals who look bored/unimpressed;
  • A “hungry hippo” eating food in various settings;
  • An expressive baby;
  • A cute little puppy.

A few samples are shown above. There were over 60 stickers in total so I brought in some help. Illustrators Justin Dial and Paul Agner inked and colored some of my sketches and they did a fantastic job.

Once the project is finished and the stickers are available I’ll be sure to let you know where you can find them online.

EDIT: The stickers are being used in a new social media app called Kewe.

Creative Freelancer Conference Recap

Last week I attended the second annual Creative Freelancer Conference in San Diego. The goal of the conference is to help creative freelancers (i.e. illustrators, designers, writers, photographers, etc.) to improve their business skills, get better clients, and increase their income.

We artsy types aren’t exactly known for our business saavy. One thing you definitely won’t learn in art school is how to market yourself. Or write a proposal. Or network, talk to clients about money, etc. This conference fills a huge need. Each time I’ve attended I’ve walked away inspired and ready to take my career to the next level.

It was also great just to spend a few days with other people who get what it is that I do for a living. Who have the same experiences, the same problems, and we can talk shop without the other person’s eyes glazing over. Freelancing can be lonely at times so I really relish any chance I get to hobnob with my fellow freelancers.
