Sketchbook Silliness: November 2016

Here’s all the Sketchbook Silliness gags I posted during this past month:

110216-Narcissists

101716-Sword

111816-Tantrum

100316-Turkeys

112316-Date Night

Also, if you back me on Patreon you can get BONUS cartoon gag sketches and other goodies. These are usually gags I’m on the fence about. They may or may not be funny enough to justify the full ink-and-color treatment so quality will vary, but as of now only my Patreon backers get to see them. Here’s a sneak peak at at this month’s bonus gags:

I’m trying to post one new Sketchbook Silliness cartoon and one bonus gag sketch every week. Hope they give you a chuckle!

Welcome To My New Website!

Cedric Hohnstadt Illustration now has a cleaner look, is mobile-friendly, and still has that fresh new website smell. There are still a few kinks to iron out (please let me know if you find any) but it’s about 95% finished. Enjoy!

I’ve Moved!

After a long summer full of starts and stops we finally closed on our old house and moved into the new Honstadt Manor in Burnsville, Minnesota. This photo was taken right after the closing and just before we started hauling in boxes. My new address is over on my Contact page. I can’t wait to start working on more fun client projects in my new, bigger studio.

SpringCon 2014

unnamed-3

SpringCon is almost here! Minnesota’s largest comic book convention will be May 17-18 at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. I’ll be there with a table, and will also be selling copies of the Pose Drawing Sparkbook. Stop on by and say “hi!”.

Some Goodies By Other Artists

I wanted to take a break from my Kickstarter, the Pose Drawing Sparkbook, to highlight a few other goodies by some incredible artists.

First, I just learned that amazing Florian Satzinger has a book out! How did I miss this? It’s called Duck: Birds and Pencils and it’s a collection of some of his wonderful cartoon bird drawings. I just ordered my copy and can’t wait to get my hands on it.

Second, one of my favorite character designers is Chris Ayers. He’s originally from my home state of Minnesota but now lives and works in California. In 2005 Chris was diagnosed with leukemia. In 2006, on the one-year anniversary of his diagnosis, he decided to sketch one animal a day for an entire year. He hasn’t stopped since, and boy does it show. He is living proof that practice really does make perfect. His drawings have been collected into some terrific books, and he’s also created a fun drawing/activity book for kids called My Daily Zoo.

Finally, my friend and fellow illustrator Tom Richmond (of MAD Magazine fame) is selling a limited edition print featuring his amazing caricatures of every actor to ever play “Doctor Who”. As a bonus, since it was just announced that Peter Capaldi has been hired to be the new Doctor, Tom will hand-draw a caricature of him on your print for only ten dollars more! Quite a deal. (While you’re poking around Tom’s site, be sure to also check out his terrific blog.)

Enjoy. You can thank me later.
