25 Feb Mr. Monopoly Redesign for Hasbro
Hasbro just launched a refresh of Monopoly. I was given the privilege of designing the updated version of the Mr. Monopoly mascot. It was an honor to help freshen up one of the most iconic game characters in American history.
I started by working up several rough concepts. Some were closer to the classic Mr. M. For others I explored pushing the character in a new direction. I took inspiration from wealthy characters such as Colonel Sanders, Jeff Bezos, and The Most Interesting Man In The World ad campaign.

Eventually we narrowed in on three possible options, adjusting and fine-tuning each.

Below is the final design, which feels fresh but that still captures the vintage charm of the original design.
Here’s just a few of dozens of illustrations I did with the new Mr. Monopoly character:

Here’s a photo I took showing the new game cards and money featuring my illustrations:

Hasbro is also launching three separate expansion packs to give players more options. Here is an illustration I did for a special “Free Parking” cart token featured in the “Free Parking” expansion pack:

Finally, here’s a few promo pics from the Hasbro website. There are many versions of Monopoly available but to my knowledge only the one with this image on the box contains my illustrations. (The expansion packs contain a bit of my artwork too.):

The updated Monopoly board game and expansion packs are currently starting to roll out in stores. Also available on Amazon.
