New Blog: The Art of Glen Keane

Glen Keane is one of the true modern masters of animation drawing. Artist Raul Andres has started a new blog collecting many of Keane’s sketches into one place. Very inspiring stuff!

Some Long Overdue Artwork

I’ve been super busy lately, burning the candle at both ends to meet deadlines. It’s a good problem to have. Here’s a few illustrations I recently completed as part of a large project for a Sunday School publisher.

How Nerdy Are You?

Take this test to find out. It’s geared more towards math and computer nerds than animation and comics nerds, but I think there’s probably a lot of crossover between the two. I scored surprisingly low as a “Nerd Wannabe”. Either I’m not as nerdy as I think I am, or there’s a whole lot of people worse than me (yikes)!

I am nerdier than 25% of all people. Are you nerdier? Click here to find out!

Hollywoodland: The Superman Suicide

I’ve always been a fan of Superman, as a kid I was obsessed with him. So this movie looks fascinating. In Hollywoodland Ben Affleck stars as George Reeves, the real-life actor who played Superman on TV in the fifties. At the height of his fame Reeves shocked the world by committing suicide. Newspaper headlines everywhere declared “Superman Dead”. But others would soon claim it was murder. To this day the case remains unsolved.

I’m debating whether to see the movie when it comes out. On the one hand, I have a soft spot for anything Superman-related, and a good bio flick can be fascinating. On the other hand the movie is rated R for sexual content, plus I’m afraid the dark side of Reeves’ personal life would cast a shadow over my childhood love of Superman.

The movie also stars Adrien Brody, Bob Hoskins, and Diane Lane. You can view the trailer here.
